Bio

Mari Lotherington is a stage designer working primarily with theatre, dance and opera. She creates spatial designs in close collaboration with lighting and sound designers, continously striving to give the audience a full sensory experience. 

She has a bachelors degree from Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, graduating in 2013, and a two year masters in theatre, specializing in scenography from The Oslo National Academy of the Arts graduating in 2017. 

In 2013 she won the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse Design Prize resulting in her work on the play Scrappers at Liverpool Playhouse. In 2017 she was named the artist profile for the Arctic Arts Festival, for which she designed several productions. In 2018 the play Tobias og dagen det smalt received the Norwegian Hedda prize for best children’s performance. Mari designed set and costumes for the play which is now touring.
